“My Fair Maiden”

This is a bedtime story about a bedtime story, for a very sweet little girl with a heart of gold.

When you explore what’s in your heart, you do so because you’re looking for what you want. Along the way, you often find more than what you want. You find what you need.

This was very much the case for Steffi, a sweet girl who bravely opened her heart one day and allowed the littleness she had harbored therein all her life to come out. Opening her heart, she risked being hurt and hurt more deeply than she had ever known, but taking that risk made all the difference in what had become her little world …

“My Fair Maiden” Part One

Steffi sat in the middle of a bed. Draping down from the ceiling fan and cascading all around the bed were several pink sheets. Scattered all about the mattress was every single stuffed animal she had.

She sat Indian-leg style in a Care Bear night shirt, waiting.

What was she waiting for? Him. The man she called Daddy.

Butterflies entered into her tummy and fluttered about a waltz inside her that welled up her senses with the feeling of littleness. Her thoughts made her giddy and she wanted to run about the house to let out the energy that had built up inside her. It was an energy brought about by the joy of being love, but not just any kind of love, rather a dynamic love.

She wasn’t just his girlfriend. She was his BabyGirl. And he cared for as such. When around him, the littleness she felt not only remained within her, but overwhelmed her mind, her heart and her soul.

In other words, she loved him as deeply as any BabyGirl would love her Daddy.

And back into the room he walked, with an armful of goodies that made her wanna giggle. He set the goodies down next to her on the bed as he repositioned the pink sheets, the canopy of her Princess bed.

“It’s soon bedtime for all BabyGirls,” he said with a Daddy voice that melted her. “And we need to get some special BabyGirl for bed, don’t we?”

“Yes, Daddy,” Steffi responded with a little girl’s tone while nodding.

He picked up her pacifier from the pile of goodies and touched the rubber nipple to her lower lip.

“Open,” he whispered sweetly as she parted her lips and took the nipple in her mouth. “That’s a good girl.”

He kissed her softly on the forehead as he eased her down on her back. The tummy butterflies were in full-waltz at this point and as she heard the crinkle of the diaper he picked up from the pile of goodies, she instinctively bent her knees and drew her legs up.

He gently rolled her legs up a bottom up as he positioned the diaper underneath her and that sweet scent of powder filled the air around her.

Steffi closed her eyes, feeling the gentleness of his hands on her bottom and her front before easing her down into the softness of the inside of her diaper. He parted her legs and began folding the diaper up and into place, fastening it at her hips.

She opened her eyes and gazed up at him with a twinkle behind her irises and a strong beating heart in her chest. She was in adoration of how he made her feel.

He rested himself alongside her, and leaned in to touch their noses – wiggling them back and forth until a giggle came from behind her pacifier. Next came the eyelash kisses, followed by a Daddy’s kiss to her forehead.

“Would you like to hear a bedtime story?” he asked her softly.

She nodded slowly, remaining flat on her back and not moving a muscle for not wanting the sensations of littleness to leave any inch of her body. He had mesmerized her, head-to-toe, and in it, she wanted to remain as long as possible.

“Would you like to hear a bedtime story or would you like to live one?” he asked with a look in his eyes that told her a fun idea had come to mind.

Steffi’s eyes widened to match the imagination she could see in his. She nodded and nursed sweetly from her pacifier.

“My Fair Maiden”Part Two

“Okay,” he said, standing up and picking up the baby blanket from the pile of goodies. “BabyGirl, I would you to play the part of the Maiden.”

He draped the blanket over her head and down her body, making it a cloak.

“And I will play the brave knight,” he said with a deep voice while picking up her princess wand and holding like a sword.

She giggled behind her pacifier at her Daddy’s silliness.

“Once Upon A Time there was a Fair Maiden walking through the woods,” he started, giving his voice a storyteller tone. “She was a happy little BabyGirl Maiden most days, but on this day she seemed saddened.”

He took a moment and pretended to mount an imaginary horse.

“A brave knight came trotting along on his horse and stopped when he saw the forlorn maiden,” he said, pretending to dismount the imaginary horse. “He walked up to the maiden and asked her what was wrong.”

He sat alongside her on the bed.

“And the maiden told her that she had lost her happiness and couldn’t find her way back to it,” her Daddy said. “The knight told her there were three key things she needed to find to get her happiness back and he was going to help her find them.”

He held up three fingers and Steffi touched the tips of each finger, mumbling one – two – three behind her pacifier.

“So he picked her up, put her on the horse and got up on the horse himself,” her Daddy said, lifting her up and sitting her on his lap while bouncing his legs as the horse began trotting. “And away they went.”

For a few seconds he bounced her and she giggled at him doing this. He was so funny and she loved him for telling her a bedtime story every night as a way of helping her settle down for bed.

“A few minutes later, she spotted a little baby bird that had fallen from its nest on the first branch of a nearby tree,” her Daddy said as the trotting stopped. “So they got off the horse. She picked up the little bird and the knight lifted her up so she could put the bird back in its nest.”

Then he started bouncing the trot again as they went along their way.

“As they left the bird nest, the Fair Maiden could hear the little bird beginning to chirp a happy song,” her Daddy said, giving Steffi a hug from behind. “The Fair Maiden felt good about having helped that little bird.”

Then the bouncing became intense.

“Suddenly, the knight’s horse began to have trouble trotting,” her Daddy said as he slowed the bouncing down. “So they got off the horse and found that a stone had gotten stuck in one of the horse’s shoe and the knight’s fingers were too big and thick to get the stone out.”

Steffi looked back at her Daddy with a littleness in her eyes while raising her hand.

“My Fair Maiden”Part Three

“Would you like to try to get the stone out of the horse’s shoe, Fair Maiden?” he asked as she nodded and hopped down off his lap, pretending to work at the stone in the horse’s shoe. “The Fair Maiden was able to fit her tiny fingers out of the horse’s shoe and the horse was much happier after that.”

Her Daddy clapped his hands, encouraging Steffi to get back up on his lap and onto the horse.  She climbed back up on top of him, yawning in the process.

Without missing the opportunity to capitalize on the first sign of her sleepiness, he eased her down onto her back on the bed, lifted the pacifier out of her mouth with pinky before replacing it with the nipple of a baby bottle of warm milk, the last item from the pile of goodies.

She lied flat on her back, entering back into that mesmerized state as he continued the bedtime story.

“Suddenly, the Fair Maiden began to feel better and as they passed through the woods to the other side, they entered in her village,” her Daddy said.  “The Fair Maiden had somehow found her happiness.  She waved goodbye to the knight as he trotted off.”

She nursed from the nipple like a little baby, trying desperately to stay awake, but the warm milk in her tummy and the soft tone he used to speak to her were begin to calm her down.

“The Fair Maiden realized that the knight had helped her to find the three keys to happiness,” her Daddy said as his voice began to soften and grow closer to a whisper.  “By helping that little bird back into its nest and by getting that stone out of the horse’s shoe, she had made the bird happy, the horse happy and herself happy.”

Steffi was really struggling to stay awake at this point. Her eyelids became laden with weight.

“The three keys to happiness are To Love Yourself, To Love Others and To Share the Joy You Feel,” her Daddy said as she drifted off to sleep.

He removed the nipple from her mouth, replacing it quickly with her pacifier before disturbing her newly-found slumber.

He covered her with another baby blanket and find a spot next to her to lie and watching her sleeping.  He was her Daddy and as Chivalry dictated the actions of a knight, so did the dynamic in dictating a Daddy’s protection of his BabyGirl.

“Good Night, My Fair Maiden,” he whispered, kissing her forehead.
