On Sunday, September 28th, I walked into one of the upper level entryways at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri to see my beloved Kansas City Chiefs play the Denver Broncos. I refer to that day as “Arriving at the Mecca”. I was at a point in life that had many options, many avenues open. The sky was the limit and for the first time in life, I controlled my own destiny. It was an incredible feeling to have journeyed and succeeded.
The first reaction to success is often a sense of relief. That which you have been pursuing has been attained. I waited to post this until after December 21st, 2012, just to make sure that the Mayans weren’t right. I don’t do this to make fun of them that the world didn’t end yesterday. In a sense, they weren’t exactly unsuccessful in their efforts.
Like a lot of other people, I paused to think “What if it had happened?”. Would I have been prepared for the end? And would I have been able to say that I accomplished everything I wanted to?
Last week, my website crossed over its 250,000th view. I paused then, as well, to think if I had accomplished everything I could’ve. A few days ago, I reached the original milestone I had set for myself when I began the website on July 18th of last year. It wasn’t for a view count or a book total. It was far more personal than that and for that reason, I don’t know as I’ll ever mention what it was. I no longer need to even think about it because it is now completely in the past … where it belongs.
But milestones are rarely reached without the help of others and I never forget to say thank you.
Happy Holidays, Thank You for 250,000 opportunities to succeed and Thank You to the Mayans for at least making us aware of the past just long enough to know what to do in the future.
Blessings,
Zorro Daddy
