In Her World, she is very little. And everything around her, everything in her life not only seems larger than life, but truly is. It doesn’t have anything to do with actual size, it has to do with the effect on her mind. It can produce insecurity, not for a feeling of inadequacy but rather, of being overwhelmed.
The feeling of being little is a very welcoming one, when in an environment that makes her feel safe at the same time. When she gets that initial sensation that leads to a tingle across her whole body, she finds herself helplessly and happily regressing to where everything in her life is encouraging to go – back inside herself, inside her shell, inside her Daddy’s arms and care.
In Her World, her mind is little. And little minds are affected by little things – such as tender words from a gentle tone, a touch to reassure her that though she feels helpless, she’s not alone. She’s protected. She’s safe. She is still her Daddy’s little girl, his responsibility, his passion, his purpose and his reason to breathe.
Walk a mile in her shoes, in her thoughts, in Her World. And you’ll feel something more overwhelming than things larger than life. You’ll feel her need to submit to emotions greater than anything her little heart could ever handle – if she ever found herself alone. And it is for this reason, that a fear of being alone makes her second-guess everything, from her actions to her words to her very thoughts.
Once littleness is felt, it is always remembered, whether in a simple time-killing moment of silent thought or in a lengthy late-night phone call that may greet the coming dawn.
The desire to be heard, to be recognized and to be known is never more needed when feeling little. A pacifier will soothe her nerves slightly. Little names will remind her that she is not only loved, but kept. A Daddy will show her where she belongs and help her to dwell safely there in. But when her whole existence can teeter on the edge of a long list of endless questions, conclusions and scenarios – all within her little mind only, she will find a way to bear one thought in mind, above all others.
She’s just a baby and she need only do what she can.
One moment, one emotion and one day at a time … In Her World.
