CAPCon 2014 – How to get there…

CAPCon 2014 will redefine ABDL “Conventions” once again.

And I am counting the days-n-hours at this point.  At the time that I posted this article, there were exactly 98 days until CAPCon 2014 kicked off.

For those of you who are young enough to have never experienced life before the instantaneous internet, it may sound weird to you when you hear folks speak of how wonderful it is to have so many conventions and house parties and events to go to, especially if those opportunities had always existed for you.

ABDL-ers older than me can recall when conventions were far and few in between and invariably on the other side of the country, making it impossible to get to – in the senses of travel and cost.

But luckily, those restrictions and limitations no longer exist.

CAPCon stands for The Chicago Age Players Convention, a gathering of ABDL-ers at a midwest location near Chicago.  Much like Abdulia gatherings and KickAss Sleepovers and US Littles Retreats, CAPCon caters to the age play and/or diaper-cladded masses of people who see the world in a different light – sometimes seasoned with a little powder.

And if your heart is jumping for joy about going, then a little research is in order:

Next come the Frequently Asked Questions and Concerns:

How am I going to get there?

The Midway Airport Website
The Chicago O’Hare Website
Chicago Metropolitan Transit
Chicago Cab Services
Drive out to Chicago.  Find people to split the gas and tolls with.  That’s what I’m doing.  And my journey is 13 hours away.  Don’t know anyone to do a ride share with?  Get onto the CAPCon Group on FetLife and ask around.
.

I can’t afford to go.  This is an understandable one.  But the truth is: everything costs something.  However, CAPCon has made it as affordable as possible.  The sooner you register, the cheaper it costs.

Next comes the cost of the hotel room.  This is where room shares come into play.  I just reserved my room for three nights and with the CAPCon rate, it costs several hundred dollars, but with the people who are staying with me in that room, all three nights only costs each of us $50 a piece.  That’s $50 for the whole weekend, not $50 per night.

There is no hotel room anywhere that will allow you to stay for $16.33 per night.  But with a room share with other ABDL-ers, you can.  There’s a room share thread on the FetLife CAPCon Group.

There’s nothing to do at a CAPCon.  There is more to do at CAPCon than there is time allotted to do it all.  Anyone who has actually attended a past CAPcon will confirm this.  And I can’t say enough about everything this event has to offer.  In no particular order, past CAPCons have included:

The Biggest play area I’ve ever seen, a coloring table, Little Philly’s Ball Pit, the lego station, the naughty horse, The Lil Miss & Lil Mister CAPCon Pageant, Classes, demonstrations, Meditation Sessions, after-hours room parties, dark play after-hours room parties, a nerf war, a music jam session, a Big Little Podcast Recording, group hugs, tickle fights, vending areas, a changing room with booths, laughter, fun, friendship, family, a raffle, story readings (AHEM! AHEM!  LOL).  For more details, read the above postings.

CAPCon is only for the sweet-n-innocent minded.  CAPCon made a decision to eliminate dark play from the convention area, but not from the convention.  This is a common misconception.  The reason they decided this was to accommodate the fact that they were in a hotel.  And the day will come before long when CAPCon can rent out the entire hotel.  Until then, they need to use discretion.  I don’t imagine any of us would want to go if we knew we would be exposed to the public.  Yet, even though the convention space was kept to the lighter side of the force, the hotel room parties included lots and lots of the dark.  I sat in one particular hotel room at 4 am one of the mornings and watched a guy break out his impressive stock of crops.  Quite a few butt whoopins took place.  And many people joined in.

If by chance, you just can’t make it there this year, don’t worry.  CAPCon 2015 already welcomes you.

Blessings on your 2014,
