10 Dynamic Moments: “First Contact”

Dynamic Moments are points in time when you make discoveries or when you come to conclusions or when you feel the beginnings of something greater than yourself.

During the month of December, I will be writing about 10 such moments.

Here is the first:

First Contact

Throughout my life, there have been pivotal moments when things have happened that would alter the course of my journeys. And it’s really fascinating to look back on these specific instances to see how they changed the steps I’ve taken along the way.

These events aren’t all ABDL-related. But this is an ABDL blog. So I’ll focus on the more crinkly memories for this string of postings.

In 1998, I made a discovery online that would open my eyes and get my heart pounding heavier and faster in my chest than ever before. That discovery was of ABDL. I didn’t know it existed and the very thought that there were others in this world who were age play inclined was not only mind-boggling to me but it quickly gave me obsession to reach out to at least one of them.

At the time, there were very basic ABDL sites on the internet. DiaperSpace hadn’t come to be. There was no FetLife yet. DailyDiapers and DPF were the only concrete websites I found with substance and depth. That’s not to say that there were no other ABDL sites. But those were the only two that popped up as results on a Yahoo search.

I perused everything, finding pictures and postings and … stories. It was those stories that first encouraged me to begin writing my own the following year. The first story I ever wrote was called The Diapered Female, a fairly boring title – I know. But years later, I would change the name of the story and add a bit more to it and you can now find it here.

In 1999, I wrote to a middle-aged guy in California who spoke of how he and his wife were Daddy and BabyGirl. I won’t divulge who they are, but I will never forget receiving his email reply. It was my First Contact.

He spoke of how he and his wife met, how they had been to a gathering a few years earlier in California and how ABDL first entered their lives. I remember being on cloud nine as I replied back to him, reciprocating my origin information. I was elated because I had never told anyone any of it. And finally having that ability and that opportunity was worth more than I could ever put to words.

I would email with that guy and a bit with his wife for several weeks. And then they did the nicest thing for me. They sent me a package that had a few stories in it he had written, an ABDL newsletter they were subscribed to and two VHS video tapes. On these video tapes were a collection of episodes from television shows. Each of these episodes had ABDL-content or ABDL-ish content.

I remember the one episode was of a TV war drama back then called China Beach. The lead character ate something she wasn’t supposed to and got deathly sick. As the sickness passed through her, she couldn’t even get out of bed and she was kept in cloth diapers until her strength returned.

Another episode was of a short-lived TV sitcom called Nurses. In this episode, one of the male nurses hired a prostitute to spend the weekend with him. She explained that she was a little more than just naughty with the services she provided. And, as that male nurse found out, she had a desire to diaper and baby men.

The rest of the content on the video tapes was a collection of episodes of talk shows. This included the infamous Jerry Springer episode, but also others – one from Phil Donahue, one from Montel Williams, one from some UK talk show I can’t presently remember the name of.

And what dumbfounded me about all of this was that there were newsletters, TV content, gatherings and so much more that had been happening for decades. Yet – I never saw a single bit of it, never accidentally stumbled across something on TV or bumped into an article in a magazine or anything like that.

Needless to say more, my First Contact was a truly dynamic moment for me. And it fueled my passion to meet more people and to acquire knowledge along the way.

It may seem too simple to be interesting anymore, being as the internet is vastly superior in quality and quantity of content these days. But even so, remember back to that very first moment you started lurking on ABDL sites, to that first moment when you decided to put up a profile and to that very first moment you either contacted someone or when someone first contacted you.

First ContactIt was, in essence, exactly what you were looking. It was the actual reason why you curiously lurked about to begin with. Maybe you weren’t able to put it into a one-sentence explanation.

But as you found out, sometimes we find what we’re looking for when we least expect it.

And first contact will surely lead to more contacts. The opportunities are more plentiful than ever. There are munches going on everywhere. There are gatherings like CAPCon, TeddyCon, KickAss Sleepovers, DipStocks, Abdulias, US Little Retreats, Connecticut Littles Invasions and those are just the ones that come to my mind right now. There are more.

It’s a very fundamental thing … looking for others who are like you or who share similar interests. And when you make that decision for yourself … to make First Contact and then more, it will be a dynamic moment for you, too.
