here is a little story about bubbling over … in more ways than one.
The First of Many Hand Bathings to Come –
“Sweetie, bath time,” Hunter said as he walked back into the nursery – selecting another nightie from the closet of clothing and placing it on the crib mattress … Veronica crawling over to the crib and looking at the nightie. “Are you warm enough in a nightie?”
Veronica nodded her head yes, her attention now drawn to the nightie. It was gleaming white with a rounded neckline. It had long sleeves with elasticized ruffle cuffs and a single button closure at the neck. Its length probably reached down to the middle of her thighs, but she wouldn’t know for sure until she was wearing it. It had a cottony feel to it and she could tell, by the thickness of the material, that it had been made for cold weather wear.
She had looked at such nighties online before … Delphine.
Hunter lifted her arms and brought the nightshirt up and off her body. Then he eased her down on her back and took hold of the toe part of both of the thigh high socks on her legs. Lifting straight up, he had some playful fun with her as he pretended to have difficulty in getting the socks off. Veronica laughed behind her pacifier.
That seemed to be what she constantly was doing this weekend. Either laughing behind her pacifier or smiling behind it. Laughter or happiness … or both, were the two main states of her mind – save for her occasional worries about a still unreceived email.
But that was neither her nor there. The present included a bath. Hallejulah! Normally, Veronica bathed herself twice a day – a shower in the morning and a bath at night. But in the winter, when it was cold, she bathed in the evening and gave herself a bird bath wipe down in the morning to freshen up. And since she was too tired to take a bath last night, this was going to feel really good now.
